Arabic-Moroccan style light called Fanoos is traditional used as decorations associated with Ramadan. Belived to have originated in Egypt for when travelers were greeted by the Egyptian people holding lanterns to celebrate their arrival at Cairo during the holy month of Ramadan.
Fanous is widely used all over the world – especially in Asian regions and the Arab world – not just for a specific religion purposes, but for names of people or decorative purposes. The lantern is a statement piece in Moroccan décor. Majority of the houses and retsurants in Morocco have them.

- turn the item inside out to protect the embroidery.
- try to not wash the item with other clothing that might cause damage, such as zippers or buttons.
- choose a mild detergent.
- if possible, allow the item to air dry. This will prevent any shrinking that might occur.
- if the embroidery features bright colors, a gentle wash in cold water can reduce the chance of colors bleeding.
